MASS MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY

The Convergence

The Convergence magazine is an electronic venture from Competitor Communications Inc. and Torstar Electronic Publishing. "Convergence refers to the converging of all media, new and old," says magazine publisher K.K. Campbell, Competitor Communications president and the Toronto Star's Internet columnist. "The day when all media -- books, movies, newspapers, music -- can be delivered down the same pipe. The Internet is a precursor to that." The Convergence magazine will, thus, focus on the socio-economic aspects of the Internet and new media, a social barometer of technology. Campbell says "The Convergence will give Canadians across the country a place to read about what effects the Net and new media has on everyday society -- as well as practical reviews of new products and their value to their lives." The Convergence is distinctly Canadian, yet the subjects it embraces are global." The Convergence will offer daily items covering industry news and product releases.
