On July 1, 2016, Terry Quinn was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms. Mr. Quinn is a retired RCMP officer who also worked for the Ministry of Justice.
The Sergeant-at-Arms is an Officer of the Legislative Assembly who is responsible for providing security in the Assembly, the Legislative Building, and the grounds surrounding the Legislative Building. The Sergeant-at-Arms is responsible for the enforcement of order, decorum and security within the Legislative Chamber, enforcing the orders of the Speaker including Speaker’s warrants, and performing the ceremonial duties with respect to the Legislature. The position is responsible for the safekeeping of the mace as well as the furniture and fittings of the Legislative Chamber.
