Speaker

The Speaker of the 27th Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is Dan D'Autremont, MLA for Cannington.  The Speaker is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) elected in a secret ballot by all other MLAs to maintain order in the House in an impartial manner. This election takes place after each general election, or when the office of Speaker becomes vacant for any reason. 

First elected to the Legislature in 1991 and re-elected in 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011, Mr. D'Autremont is one of the "Original Eight" founding members of the Saskatchewan Party.  

Mr. D'Autremont has served as Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor & Gaming Authority, Minister for Government Services and Minister Responsible for Information Technology Office. Most recently, he served as Government House Leader, Co-chair of the Legislation and Regulation Review (Cabinet) Committee, member of the Board of Internal Economy, member of the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies, member of the Standing Policy (Caucus) Committee on Crown and Central Agencies, member of the Public Accounts Committee, member of the Privileges Committee and member of the House Services Committee. 

Mr. D'Autremont replaces Mr. Don Toth, MLA for Moosomin, who served as Speaker for the 26th Legislative Assembly (2007-2011).
