Jim Reiter was first elected as the MLA for Rosetown-Elrose in the 2007 provincial election. He was subsequently re-elected in 2011, 2016, and 2020.
In May 2009, Jim was first appointed to cabinet as Minister of Highways and Infrastructure. In June 2012, he was designated as Minister of Government Relations, as well as Minister responsible for First Nations, Métis, and Northern Affairs. During his time in this portfolio he was also responsible for SaskEnergy and SaskTel. In August 2016, Jim was appointed to serve as the Minister of Health. In 2020, he was named Minister of SaskBuilds and Procurement, and Minister responsible for SaskGaming, for the Public Service Commission, for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, and for the Global Transportation Hub Authority. Jim currently serves as Minister of Energy and Resources.
Before he became involved in provincial politics Jim served in a number of positions with the Rural Municipal Administrators’ Association, including President. Among his educational accomplishments is a Senior Certificate in Local Government Administration from the University of Regina. He also served six years on the U of R Senate. Jim has also served his community as a Justice of the Peace and Marriage Commissioner.
