Joan was first elected MLA for Regina Rochdale on October 28, 2024. She is the opposition Shadow Minister of Early Learning and Childcare and the Associate Shadow Minister of Education. She is also a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. 

After retiring as a principal, Joan competed her nursing degree and practiced in mental health and public health, and in private practice assisting school divisions in COVID mitigation in western Canada.  Joan holds several degrees:  B.Ed., B.A., P.G.D. (Ed. Admin.), M.Ed. (Admin), CT/RTC, SCBScN and she is a registered teacher and registered nurse.

Joan is committed to lifelong learning, enjoys the arts, especially opera, culinary arts, and the outdoors. She is fiercely proud to be a public servant for her constituency and province.
