
Tajinder Grewal was first elected MLA for Saskatoon University-Sutherland in 2024. He is the opposition Shadow Minister for Advanced Education, as well as the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on the Economy.
Tajinder has a B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons.), M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology. He has a passion for agriculture that eventually led him to become a Professional Agrologist with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.
He worked as a chief scientist and head of the genomics lab with SGS Canada. He was also previously a research officer at the University of Saskatchewan and a research scientist at the Saskatchewan Research Council.
A dedicated volunteer and board member, he has served many foundations, cultural, sports, and community organizations. Tajinder, along with a few like-minded people, started the Saskatoon Field Hockey Club in 2003 and was a treasurer of the club from 2003 to 2020. He was elected to serve on the board of directors for the Saskatoon Cooperative Association (Saskatoon Coop) from 2021 to 2024.
Tajinder played a significant role in the establishment of the Punjabi Cultural Association of Saskatchewan in 2004, served on several executive positions, and was also president from 2010-2012. He inspired many people to participate, and to promote and preserve language, cultural arts, and traditions. He has participated and collaborated with other cultural organizations to promote multiculturalism in Canada.
In addition to his professional and volunteer work, Tajinder loves gardening, dancing, reading, and being part of the community.
