Gary Grewal - Member Details
Mr. Gary Grewal - Government Caucus
Regina Northeast

Surender (Gary) Grewal was elected as the MLA for Regina Northeast in the 2020 provincial election. He is the first Indo-Canadian elected to the Saskatchewan Assembly. He is currently a member of the Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice committee.

When Gary immigrated to Canada almost 40 years ago, he chose Saskatchewan to build his future. Gary is a successful entrepreneur and long-standing community leader in Regina.

Gary has spent thousands of hours volunteering in the community.  He has held the position of president of the India Canada Association of Saskatchewan, president of Saskatchewan Cricket Association, director of the Canadian Cricket Association, player for Saskatchewan in interprovincial cricket tournaments, chair of the India Pavilion during Regina’s annual Mosaic festivities hosted by the Regina Multicultural Council of Regina, and president of the Sikh Society, Regina. In 2016, Gary was honoured to serve as chair of the organizing committee for the first annual Sikh Day parade. He has been awarded several community awards for volunteering and performing on stage.

While at university, Gary studied Mechanical Engineering, and then he became a successful businessman in the hospitality sector for the next 25 years. He then became motivated to run for public office. He felt that this province had given him a lot and that it was a good time to give back by serving the community. He wants to pave the path for new generations to come, and to show them that if you work hard, anything is possible.

Gary and his wife of 40 years, Seema, have called Regina home since 1983. They have three children Simran, Indu, and TJ, who were born and raised in Regina, each attending the University of Regina for their undergraduate studies. They now have professional careers in law, engineering, and social justice. Gary also has three beautiful and energetic grandchildren whom he credits for keeping him young at heart.

Gary is proud to represent Regina Northeast and enjoys working with his constituents to make it a better community for all.
